My research spreads among two big areas of the Human Biology: Immunology and Microbiology.
I'm actively working to enlighten the interaction between our gut microbiota (GM) and the human immune system (IS) elicited via the production of dietary-derived metabolites, such as short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs). I’m lately extending the area of focus studying other GM-derived metabolites and their effect on the IS as well as on skin inflammation models, aiming to a deeper understanding of this complex mutualism.
Nevertheless I'm contributing, within the group, to study a rare disease named cutaneous T cell lymphoma (CTCL).
