Courses
The courses are open to all those with an interest in immunology. Visit the individual links on the list below to find the course descriptions.
In the course catalogue of the Graduate School you can search for the course titles and find out when they are on next. If you cannot find a course in the course catalogue, then please contact Mogens Holst Nissen and he will inform you when the course is on next.
Besides the courses mentioned below, the programme also hosts an annual meeting.

Aim and content
The course aims at giving the participants the concept behind innate immunity.
This includes knowledge about defense mechanisms in anatomical barriers, pattern recognition molecules, the inflammasome, the complement system, strategies for antimicrobial defense and host Interactions as well as the involvement of innate immunity in maintaining tissue homeostasis. It will be a mixture of state of the art lectures given by international recognized researchers in the field and hands-on experimental sessions of subcellular fractionation of neutrophils and function of the complement system. The course is an activity of the Graduate School of Immunology.

Aim and content
The understanding of many diseases has changed fundamentally during the last two decades. Thus dysfunction/dysregulation of the immune system can be shown to be part of the disease process in many instances. The intention of the course is to bring the participants knowledge of current leading research within the immune system covering the principals of innate and adaptive immunity as well the pathogenesis in immune related diseases.
Participants
PhD students and others interested within clinical and basic research on the immune system and inflammation.
Language
English.
Form
4 individual days in each term from 9.00 – 12.00 and 13.15 – 17.00 as presentation and discussion.

Aim and content
This interdisciplinary course aims at giving the participant knowledge of methods, techniques, and concepts in the study of allergic diseases. The course is a part of the Graduate School of Immunology and is held as a journal club.
Contents
One hour workshops of participants and invited lecturers on the basic and clinical topics of allergology including the diseases: asthma, hay fever, anaphylaxis, atopic dermatitis, food allergy, drug allergy; the diagnostic tools: allergen challenges of target organs, skin prick tests, in vitro methods (specific IgE-determinations, histamine release); and the pathophysiological and immunological background: T- B-lymphocytes, IgE-synthesis, Th1 vs. Th2. vs Treg cells and cytokines, mast cells, basophils and eosinophils, mediators and cytokine, immunological processes, signal-transduction mechanisms.

Aim and content
The aim of this PhD course that participants acquire knowledge on innate immune signaling pathways and regulations there-of both in response to microbes (commensals and pathogens) and in inflammation in states of disease. In addition, there will be sessions on techniques, and on pharmacological and microbial interventions to deregulated responses.
The course will contain lectures by leading national and international researchers within the fields of skin and immune signaling both from SIC, from Danish research institutions and internationally.
