Innate Immunity

Aim and content:

The course aims at giving the participants the concept behind innate immunity.

This includes knowledge about defense mechanisms in anatomical barriers, pattern recognition molecules, the inflammasome, the complement system, strategies for antimicrobial defense and host Interactions as well as the involvement of innate immunity in maintaining tissue homeostasis. It will be a mixture of state of the art lectures given by international recognized researchers in the field and hands-on experimental sessions of subcellular fractionation of neutrophils and function of the complement system.  The course is an activity of the Graduate School of Immunology.
